Creedence Clearwater Revival Picture
Creedence Clearwater Revival, frequently referred to as CCR or simply Creedence, was an American rock band, fronted by John Fogerty. The band started out as The Blue Velvets, formed by John Fogerty, Doug Clifford, and Stu Cook in El Cerrito, California in the late 1950s. They were an instrumental trio, however during the early '60's they began backing Tom Fogerty, John's older brother, for school dances at El Cerrito High School, on fraternity house gigs and in the recording studio. By the mid 1960s, the band signed a contract with Fantasy Records which was a local label based in San Francisco at that time. They were attracted to the label because Fantasy had released a national hit by Vince Guaraldi, "Cast Your Fate To The Wind".

Take It Like A Friend Lyrics

Creedence Clearwater Revival

If maybe youd move over,
Gave someone else a chance to try their luck;
Instead, you run up closer,
Tryn to grab a page before they close the book.
Chorus:
It was over fore it started, seemed so long when we began
Hope you take it like a friend.
Its a shame to see you cryin , wouldnt think to way back when,
Looks like Ill never hear the end.
Thought you had the honor,
Took special pride in all your well laid plans.
Forgot about the others,
We moved out tward the light showin empty hands.
Chorus
Ah, put the boot down! mm-hm!
Love to be the winner.
Gather up your chips in time to cash em in.
Were all lookin thinner,
Playin cards too close for either one to win.
Chorus
Woa oh oh oh ...
Its a shame to see you cryin, wouldnt think to way back when,
Hope you take it like a friend.
Yeah eah eah eah...
